A Web-Optimized Interface

Our IWP (Instant Web Publishing) module is an alternate interface for the data contained in SeedCode Calendar. This (much) simpler interface runs very quickly over IWP and includes separate layouts optimized for iPhone alongside the layouts we use for regular browsers and iPads.

Rather than reproduce the whole interface of SeedCode Calendar, the IWP module offers several small, task-specific layouts that let you browse, add, and edit your contacts, projects and appointments. (Projects are only available in SeedCode Complete.)

The IWP module works with SeedCode Calendar Pro or Pro Complete.)

This solution includes three builds of the IWP Module. The first is for our newest FileMaker Calendar which should be used with FileMaker 11 or FileMaker Server Advanced 11. Two other folders contain the IWP modules for our older FileMaker 8.5 and 9 calendars, as well as for SeedCode Complete.

Introduction

The IWP (Instant Web Publishing) module gets around some of the difficulties of working in IWP by giving the calendar a separate interface file that works within the constraints of IWP. This simplified interface uses a simpler graph and very basic scripts to let you work with the data in SeedCode Calendar from within a browser. This approach delivers a web interface that is much faster than our previous web interfaces and allows even small iPhone browsers to quickly add and edit records.

Contacts

Contact List. The contact list lets you easily scroll through your list of contacts, and filter the list presented by the first few letters of the contact’s last name or company name. Regular browsers share the same layouts as iPads...

Event lists look similar: note that the IWP module does not display events in a calendar grid, but in lists, which are much faster. Check out the live demo for more info.

Details. Clicking on any contact reveals their details along with portals to their recent appointments (activity) and projects (Pro Complete only). Easily email the contact or map their address from this screen. On iPhone, the email and map links tie to the phone’s native mail and map applications and clicking on any domestic phone number begins a call to that contact.

Layout Templates

The new FM11 version IWP module (included here) comes with a sample data file in case you don’t want to use this with SeedCodeCalendar. In this way you can use these layouts as templates for your own IWP projects, taking advantage of the layouts as templates for your own new iPad and iPhone optimized layouts.
