Thank you for Back Magic - very slick.
It has got me thinking about a feature I saw in a CRM system (Saleslogix) a few years back. It had a 'History' button (next to Back/Fwd Buttons) which popped a dropdown with the last 10 records the user had visited and allowed to navigate to them when selecting. (was very useful in a call centre where agents would quickly losing track of who they spoke to 3 calls ago)
Before I try and melt my brain trying to work out how to implement this in Filemaker has anyone done anything similar.
The idea is to track the last 10 visited records in a stack, view that stack in a Pop-up Menu (i.e Value List) and give the user the ability to choose one of those 10 rows back in the stack and navigating to it. I can't work out how to ge the stack into a value list?

I think you need to use a script to set the stack into an indexed field in the Settings table and use that as the basis for your value list.
You might consider maintaining a separate $$stack for the records visited, might be simpler. John Sindelar

Thanks for reply. Yes I first assumed might be achieved by referencing with calcs but seems only way is to write to a global via script. So either manage stack directly in global or set the variable to a global prior to user popping the list. Will post any findings. |
