I'm helping out a friend who just bought a license for fmSpark for his sailing school in Rhode Island. He's noticed a small problem with the emails he's sending from fmSpark. They are marked with a "Date:" 1 hour in the future, and it looks to me like it's a problem with daylight savings time. Emails that he sends from Thunderbird come out fine, so we don't think the problem is with his system clock or system time zone settings.

The headers on one of the emails look like this:

Code: Select all
Received: from (details omitted); Sun, 9 Aug 2009 21:16:00 -0400 (EDT)
Subject: Another week - another Sailing School picnic! (Saturday Aug 15)
Date: Sun, 9 Aug 2009 21:16:00 -0500

As you can see, the time zone used in the Date header is one hour different from the one in the Received header. The one in the Received header is correct.

Is there a setting in fmSpark that we can use to fix this, or does it need to be fixed in the software itself? While it's not a big problem, it does cause Thunderbird to mis-sort messages, which can get confusing.

Good question. fmSpark doesn't send any information about times to your mail server, so I don't know if there is anything in fmSpark to change. Let me look into this and I'll let you know what I find.
